My Beloved Family . . . (this is a modified e-mail I sent last month)
Lori, Susan, Joel, Valeri, Bret, Pat and Aaron - if you want your children to know about the reunion, it is your responsibility to inform them. I don't have e-mail addresses for all of your kids.
After much contemplation and conversations with Mom, etc. This is what I'd like to see happen.
We arrive August 18th - this is the day we get settled in and get organized. Nothing exciting is planned for that night and since there will be a very small group in attendance, we will try to do pot luck. I plan to arrive around 3:00 p.m.
August 19th - My thought was that this would be our Downata Hot Springs day for anyone interested in going. (*See asterisks on Friday.*) We are planning a treasure hunt that could be this morning if no one wants to take their kids swimming, otherwise, it will be Saturday morning. If you are not interested in swimming we can play games but the official Game Night will be after dinner . . . Board games, card games, etc. (If you have a game you would like everyone to enjoy with you - BRING IT!! (There will be no babysitters on staff so plan activities for your children.)
Breakfast - Bartholomew
Lunch - Valeri and Jennifer
Dinner - Hendricks
August 20th - Randy is going golfing with a group in Preston that morning and we could have kids activities and treasure hunt that morning with a volleyball or softball game for the adults - late morning before it gets hot. **Lori, if you want to do a waterslide after lunch - you can organize that - we should probably get permission from the owners before we do though. (*This could be Friday all day if the Downata idea bombs.) We could do the "Minute to Win It" competition in the evening if the waterslide thing happens, otherwise it will be after lunch. I am wondering about an around the campfire activity for that night, but need to verify that we can have an outside fire.
Breakfast - Bartholomew
Lunch - Anderson
Dinner - Joel and Bret
August 21st - Breakfast and lunch provided - no activities planned
Breakfast - Bartholomew
Lunch - Left Overs, unless someone wants to volunteer!!

The intent was for those interested in Downata Hot Springs would attend on Friday afternoon. Mandi and her kids are excited to go - anyone else wanting to go? Please let us know . . .
Saturday morning some are interested in golfing. That would be happening at the Preston Golf Course, so let me know if you want to be included in the tee times.
Looks like Kaleena and Mandi - will be putting together the Minute to Win it competition. This is Mom's idea - she loves this stuff!!!!
Melanie is heading up the kids games for Saturday. We will be doing it for the kids under 12. There will also be a treasure hunt!!
Nicholas Hendricks is putting together a volleyball tournament, in honor of Grandpa, also a softball game if we want.
Jennifer has offered to bring Rock Band - we could have a lot of fun with that!!
We're looking in to some campfire activities - (don't know yet if a campfire is allowed).
If any of these activities look like something you would like to help with, or do, or participate in or whatever,
E-MAIL ME we would love your HELP and INPUT!
ALSO - I was told - NO DOGS IN THE CABIN!!!!!!!!!

Doyle Lewis Family Reunion @ Moose Spring Lodge
Welcome to our Doyle Lewis Family Reunion blog. I will have info on this site to keep everyone up to date on what is going on. Mom and I drove to the lodge on June 20th to take a look around. I think this will be a good place to stay and have fun together. Everyone should try to come up at least for a day!!! The dates are August 18 - August 21 - be there or be square . . .
This is the sign post where you turn to go to the Lodge - It is one mile from the Welcome to Oxford City sign to the Oxford loop, then approximately 1.7 miles from the Oxford Loop turn off to this sign and another .2 miles to the cabin from this sign.
At the Moose Spring Lodge sign you can see the cabin to your left and slightly behind you . . .
The kitchen is on the bottom floor, which is ground level when you drive up to the cabin. The front door is on the right side of this picture. We have access to a gas range, microwave and refrigerator. Here you can see one table with chairs around it and another table to the left. On the left of the kitchen is one of 3 sitting areas with couches and chairs and a wood burning stove. Just down the hall are three bedrooms, 2 with one queen bed in each and 1 with a king size bed and a master bathroom. There is also another bathroom on this floor.
This is one of the sitting areas - it is located on the second floor. As you can see in the pictures there is a log stairway that goes from the bottom floor all the way to the top floor of the cabin. I worry about the smallest children on these stairs - we should keep a close eye on them as the stairs are steep.
There are eight bedrooms total in the cabin. On the second floor there are 5 more bedrooms. 2 bedrooms with 2 queen size beds and 3 bedrooms with 1 queen size bed. There are 3 bedrooms with 1 queen size bed in each of them that are still available if anyone would like to stake a claim!!! First come first served!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the top level. As you can see it is an open space with 12 cots. I was thinking that teenagers, young adults, and older children could sleep up here together. I would recommend you bring a sleeping bag to put on top of the cot and sleep in the sleeping bag. There is no bedding provided!! (No bedding for ANY of the beds).
There is an old piano on this floor as well - It works too!
This is the view from one of the decks. Mom said that when their ward stayed at the cabin, several of the teenaged boys slept in sleeping bags on the deck - just a possibility. Below is a great view from the side deck which steps down to the ground.
Mom said that people put their campers, and trailers on this level area and then they had access to the bathrooms (2 of them at this end of the cabin). There are lots of places for tents, trailers, campers, etc. plenty of room!!!! By the way, there are 4 bathrooms total!! They all have a sink, toilet, and shower or tub!!!! You will need to bring your own towels, washcloths, etc.
Look for more posts and more information as I get things together. If anyone would like to offer input as to what they would like to do, eat, etc. while there, let me know. raylene18@hotmail.com
